In the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we opened up a warehouse in Vista, CA, to serve the growing need of women veterans and their families in our community. Our warehouse offers critical essentials ranging from household cleaning supplies to children’s clothing, and feminine hygiene to bedding that our women veterans can pick up free of charge. Opening a warehouse opened up a new opportunity to serve our women veterans in an uncertain time, and has continued to provide our military families with free essentials that can dramatically offset the cost of other bills such as rent and utilities.
Not only has our warehouse served as a resource for everyday necessities, but in the past four years it has also provided growing families with a bright beginning to their new chapter. Each Spring, we decorate our warehouse in blues and pinks and invite our veteran and active-duty mothers to join us for a morning of baby shower games, giveaways, and building new friendships with fellow moms to be. At the end of each shower, our women leave with baby baskets brimming with diapers, wipes, infant toys, new mom essentials, and homemade baby blankets created by our generous quilt guild partners.
Each of our Bright Beginnings Baby Showers is marked by joy and gratitude. Every year, we have women who exclaim behind their bundles of baby essentials, “this is all for me?!” Since 2021, we have served over 362 new and expecting mothers with baby essentials through our Bright Beginnings Baby Showers!
Without our community partners, none of this would be possible. We owe a huge thank you to AbbVie, SoCalGas, and our numerous community donors and volunteers who help stock our warehouse for our Baby Showers and stuff baby baskets for our new moms.
Additionally, last year as we continued to expand our reach, we partnered with HSN to provide 1,000 baby kits for the Tampa & Bay Pines Florida, VA Maternity Care Departments. These kits were then distributed to new veteran moms to help them celebrate and welcome their newest additions. Thank you HSN for helping us provide a bright beginning from coast to coast!
