Brutrinia “Trinia” Cain currently serves as our Women Veterans Lead program facilitator. Brutrinia has over 20 years of experience in the federal government, working as a nurse, attorney, health policy expert, leadership trainer, and coach. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University and a Juris Doctor from The University of Kansas School of Law. Trinia served as a commissioned officer in both the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS), retiring in April 2024 at the rank of Commander.
Trinia has held key roles at federal agencies such as the Health Resources and Services Administration, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General. She was the first USPHS officer selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow, where she contributed to health and labor policy teams in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Trinia is a certified personal, professional, and executive coach and has worked as a coach for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the USPHS. While on active duty, she also co-created a coaching program for nurse officers to help mitigate burnout related to rapid and frequent deployments to support COVID-19 mission.
Trinia currently resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Her interests include Pilates, reading, writing, traveling, and good coffee. She is the proud mom of a 22-year-old daughter who is a senior at Texas Christian University.
