Joa Rojas is a dedicated public service professional and United States Marine Corps veteran with over a decade of experience leading diverse teams in high-stakes environments. Currently a full-time graduate student, Joa is pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy at NYU Wagner, where she is a Public Service Scholarship recipient.
Most recently, Joa served as the Senior Program Coordinator at United Activities Unlimited. In this role, she spearheaded regional youth workforce programming for the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development. Her expertise lies in fostering collaboration across regional audiences, designing equitable professional development curricula and building robust networks between community institutions and the youth they serve.
Before entering the nonprofit sector, Joa served ten years in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Her military tenure included roles as an Aviation Ordnance Program Manager and Recruiting Manager, where she optimized operational efficiencies and led teams to exceed complex mission goals, earning multiple commendations for leadership and service.
Driven by a passion for equity and community development, Joa serves as an ambassador with Foundation for Women Warriors. Joa is also an advocate for expanding access to athletics for young girls. Drawing on her background in school counseling and youth workforce development, Joa is committed to creating sustainable pathways that provide young girls with the resources and opportunities to participate in and excel through sports.
