Mercedes Elias is a seasoned business leader, veteran advocate and recently served as as CEO of a service-disabled veteran-owned broker-dealer on Wall Street.
Mercedes is a proud Mexican American and a native of San Antonio, Texas. Mercedes began her career as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps where she completed a combat tour in Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Mercedes also served additional assignments is Quantico, Virginia; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Okinawa, Japan; Camp Pendleton, California and Garden City, New York.
Following her military service in 2016, Mercedes began a career in the finance industry where she then became the first and only woman veteran to serve as CEO of a service-disabled veteran-owned broker-dealer on Wall Street. Mercedes has extended her service to supporting various veteran nonprofit organizations and advocating for veterans. In 2020, she was appointed by the Mayor to New York City’s Veterans Advisory Board, where she currently serves as Chair.
Mercedes holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Mary’s University, an advanced business certification from Columbia University, and an MBA with a concentration in finance from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
