  • Earlier this month, the Women’s Health Clinic at Earlier this month, the Women’s Health Clinic at the Salem Veteran Affairs Medical Center was renamed after veteran Master Sgt. Silverine Vinyard James.

James retired from the U.S. Army after serving more than 22 years of active duty.

    Sonar Technician (Surface) 1st Class Kate Haynes h Sonar Technician (Surface) 1st Class Kate Haynes has become the second woman in U.S. Navy history to qualify as an Acoustic Intelligence (ACINT) Specialist after recently completing the rigorous self-paced training program. In her new position, Haynes will not only contribute to the expertise essential to antisubmarine warfare (ASW) operations but will also serve as a mentor for women in a historically male dominated field.

Five chairs were sworn in on March 22, and Wednesday, DoD announced a list of 14 new members, including retired female flag/general officers from across the services.

The announcement comes the day before the reconstituted committee’s first scheduled meeting, where members are set to get briefings on DoD women’s health and the Air Force Women’s Initiatives Team."
