Intro to Meditation – Practical Tools to Enhance Mental Well-Being
Foundation for Women Warriors is teaming up with Shayna Gothard Kaufmann to introduce you to meditation.
The relationship between meditation and mental health is clear: meditation absolutely improves our mental wellbeing. Whether it’s lowering anxiety, improving sleep, reducing stress, or increasing focus, research shows that meditation works. In this introductory class, you will learn about the concept of meditation and several forms of meditative tools to help during these challenging times.
Shayna Kaufmann, Ph.D. Bio:
Dr. Shayna Kaufmann is a Clinical Psychologist and the Founder and President of Embrace The Middle. Her company’s teaching and workshops focus on guiding women in midlife to experience these years with empowerment and joy, rather than crisis and dread. Shayna has published original research, is a sought-after speaker, and former adjunct faculty member at National University and Alliant International University. She has been practicing Zen Meditation for the past 15 years with the San Diego Zen Center and annually attends silent meditation retreats. Her community involvements include Board positions and volunteer work for the San Diego Zen Center, Parent-Teacher Associations, NAACP, Jewish Family Services and the Anti-Defamation League. Shayna has been happily married since 1999 and is the mother of two powerful and beautiful teen girls.
