Challenges and difficulties are part of life. We can’t avoid them. But we can learn more effective ways to respond to them. Resilience is the ability to “bounce back” from challenges and adversity. Even though experiencing challenges is “normal,” they can still leave us feeling anxious, stressed and even cause us to question our competence. But this doesn’t have to be the case. Enter resilience.
Resilience is choosing to respond to our difficulties rather than automatically react with worry, fear and self-doubt. Resilience is leaning into what is actually happening rather than being consumed with “what was“ and “what ifs.” Resilience is using challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. After all, without challenges, we couldn’t develop resilience.
