Hike for Herstory

Hike for Herstory was a great success!!

To celebrate Women’s History Month, we partnered with our friends at Tough Women Only to hike Cuyamaca Peak on March 24th! We had a great group of hikers make the early morning trek to the top of Cuyamaca Peak, which offered some beautiful views on a perfect day. We met an amazing Woman Warrior named Lee, who inspired us with her story.

Please meet Carlita also known as Lee. Lee is an 80 year-old Air Force veteran that joined us on today’s hike!

Lee served in the United States Air Force in the late 50’s, began running marathons in her 40’s, ran an Ultra Marathon, worked in numerous research labs and in 1982 she was part of the team that conducted the first study on high- altitude pulmonary edema in Nepal. This Warrior also completed the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage on foot twice from France and Portugal at the age of 76!!

We are beyond grateful Lee hiked with us today and shared HER STORY! Many thanks to Tough Women Only and all the hikers that joined us today!
