Lieutenant Colonel Jasmin Moghbeli was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005 and trained as an AH-1 Super Cobra pilot. She deployed overseas three times, completing 150 combat missions, and later became a helicopter test pilot with VMX-1 at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. She also earned a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
In 2017, Moghbeli was selected as a NASA astronaut. She commanded NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 mission, spending 197 days aboard the ISS, completing 3,184 Earth orbits, and conducting one spacewalk. She contributed to key scientific research, including spaceflight’s impact on humans and growing food in space. She has received multiple military and NASA awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and NASA’s Distinguished Service Medal.
