Today marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of military children. With frequent relocations, family separations, and reintegration following both deployments and after service, our nation’s military children grow wherever they are planted. From each challenge and adventure, they consistently demonstrate what true resilience looks like.
Once military service comes to an end, our new veteran families face different challenges and one of the most significant is the loss of access to subsidized childcare. This loss of on-base care increases the cost sometimes nearly three times and often keeps kids from enjoying educationally rich school breaks and prevents parents from pursuing further education or advancing their careers.
Our Childcare Assistance program offsets this massive increase in cost and helps to ensure that our veterans’ children have somewhere safe, reliable, and educational to spend their time while our veterans are working and pursuing their education.
This program also addresses what is supposed to be welcomed time-off, like spring, summer and winter breaks from school. By providing stipends for school-break camps and activities, we ensure our veterans don’t need to sacrifice coveted PTO or wages to sustain the lengthy school breaks.
These programs are invaluable for our veterans’ kids and relieve stress and financial strain for our veterans.
Now through June 30th, 2026, we are calling on your support to expand the access of our Childcare Assistance program nationally.
By providing support for post-military childcare, addressing financial gaps, and delivering resources, we help veterans and their children thrive.
