Unmarked Gravesite Initiative
In Pennsylvania, the Unmarked Gravesite Initiative, a project of the Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committee of the NAACP Pennsylvania State Conference are actively working to correct the oversight of unmarked and unrecognized graves.
As part of this effort, remembrance ceremonies will take place throughout the Commonwealth during September 2025. These events will honor the lives and legacies of the women of the 6888th, many of whom were laid to rest without proper military honors.
The initiative is dedicated to identifying, researching, and securing headstones for these trailblazing women through community-led restoration and local engagement.
