This is Your Impact!

Whitney transitioned out of the Coast Guard in 2020. Having fought through her military transition during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she was no stranger to making the most of uncertain circumstances. While simultaneously balancing responsibilities as a single mother, she enrolled in school full-time to continue pursuing her passion for medicine.

When she reached the residency stage of her program, however, she found herself losing her footing. Longer hours demanded additional childcare which began to drastically impact her monthly budget. When her childcare provider announced an increase in costs, she wasn’t sure what to do. She was determined to finish her program, knowing it would open new doors for her and her daughter, yet at present increasing childcare costs threatened to consume her savings.

While searching for resources, Whitney found our programs and applied immediately for Childcare Assistance.

“As a single mother, I am always trying to build a better life for me and my child, but the cost of care made me question how I would be able to finish school and get things going. I’m so grateful for this program. I don’t know if I would have ever finished my education without your support.” 

The assistance Whitney received not only provided financial stability for her family, but also propelled her professional trajectory. After receiving assistance and completing her residency, Whitney opened her own holistic health practice and is now serving her community in a new way.

The generosity of our donors and partners served as a catalyst for Whitney and continues to impact her family and the lives of her patients every day.
